Process:
In redesigning the book jacket for Finding the Dragon Lady, I wanted to showcase what made Madame Nhu, South Vietnam's de facto first lady during the Vietnam War, so intriguing to the masses. The dragon scale background is composed of Vietnamese textiles with stitches drawn in Illustrator. I hoped the red stitches on the yellow fabric would resemble Southern Vietnamese flags. In the foreground is Madame Nhu's iconic ao dai silhouette.
